We are the street

November 2017

On the occasion of the International Day against male violence and with the support of the Gender and Diversity Policies Department of Madrid City Council, we created a project aimed at the artistic transformation of public spaces that are metaphorically dangerous for women.

The work ‘Water’ by the artist Trinidad Irisarri transformed the tunnel between Calle Lagasca and Retiro into a large swimming pool. A space of freedom, wellbeing and security in the face of the sensation of fear that women feel in certain public places in our cities.

‘A ‘Callejero libre de violencias machistas’ for Madrid.
